In order to maintain our freedom, we must protect our constitutional rights.

Examples of the constitution being ignored and citizens abusedEdit

See Wikipedia:Criticism_of_government_response_to_Hurricane_Katrina#Confiscation_of_civilian_firearms for more details

During hurricane Katrina in 2005, New Orleans Police Superintendent Eddie Compass issued an order to local police, U.S. Army National Guard soldiers, and Deputy U.S. Marshals to confiscate all civilian-held firearms. "No one will be able to be armed," Compass said. "Guns will be taken. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns."

People were physically attacked to disarm them, including a 58 year old woman. The city refused to admit they had done this at first, but eventually admitted it. Years later, they still hadn't returned all the weapons seized to their proper owners, until a lawsuit filed by the NRA was settled in 2008, they forced to finally return them.

The state of Louisiana passed a law in 2006 to "prohibit confiscation of firearms in a state of emergency, unless the seizure is pursuant to the investigation of a crime, or if the seizure is necessary to prevent immediate harm to the officer or another individual." Later that year a federal law was passed for that as well.

So hopefully that won't happen again. No word if anyone responsible for these horrible crime were punished or not.

If doomsday comes, don't expect everyone to be following the law though, even those that are sworn to protect it.
